ISEG Alumni Económicas has just extending the application deadline for mentees of the 2nd edition of Professional Mentoring - a program designed to support a decisive phase in the careers of our former students.
 

This level of the program offers individual and strategic mentoringensured by mentors with over 20 years' experienceThey are also ISEG alumni, ready to share knowledge, open doors and help unlock professional challenges.


The mentoring sessions are personalized, confidential and adapted the objectives and needs of each participant.

Anyone who is a Former ISEG or ISEG Executive Eduaction students with 5 to 15 years' professional experience and members of ISEG Alumni Económicas (this condition can be regularized at the time of registration, by filling in the available form here).

Carolina Afonso distinguished as Digital Marketing and Communications Professional of the Year

Professor Carolina Afonso, a lecturer at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management, was awarded the "Digital Marketing and Communications Professional of the Year" in the 2025 edition of the ACEPI Navegantes XXI Awards - Digital LeadersThe ceremony took place yesterday at the Portugal Digital Summit.

The distinction, awarded by a jury made up of 25 leading professionals in the digital sector, recognizes Carolina Afonso's journey, impact and contribution to digital transformation and communication with purpose. In all, more than 200 nominees at 10 categories different.

In her message of thanks, Carolina Afonso highlighted the value of collective work:

"No professional career is made alone, and this award is also about the people, projects and brands that have believed in the importance of digital transformation and communication with purpose.
A recognition I share with all the teams and partners I've had the privilege of working with over the last 20 years. And to my ISEG students, who make this an even greater purpose."

Carolina Afonso is professor at ISEG, Global Director of Innovation and Transformation at Jerónimo Martins, and professor author of several books in the areas of digital marketing and leadership.

This distinction reinforces the prominent role of ISEG's teaching staff on the national and international scene, as well as the link between academia, innovation and business practice that characterizes the school.

In memoriam of Francisco Pinto Balsemão

ISEG expresses its sorrow at the departure of Francisco José Pereira Pinto de BalsemãoHe has been a member of ISEG's Advisory Board since 2010 and throughout its existence.

Invited to join this body because of the example he has set throughout his life - for his work in defense of democracy, freedom and even public life - ISEG has always counted on his support, participating constructively whenever asked to do so.

ISEG marks International Day for the Eradication of Poverty with analysis of gender inequalities in poverty in Portugal

Today, October 17th, we mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty with the publication of Gender Poverty Gap in Portugal" datasheet, published by Gender, Labour, and Power Observatory of the ISEG Research.

About 978,000 women lived in monetary poverty in Portugal in 2023according to the latest datasheet published today by Gender, Work and Power Observatory of ISEG/ISEG Researchsigned by the professor Carlos Farinha Rodrigues.

The analysis, based on data from the Living Conditions and Income Survey (ICOR, 2024)reveals that the poverty rate among women was 17.6%exceeding 2.2 percentage points more than men, and in one percentage point above the national average. In relative terms, women represented 52% of the population in a situation of poverty.

The study draws attention to the Gender Poverty Gap (GPG) - the ratio between female and male poverty rates - which reached a value of 1.14This is higher than the European Union average (1.09). This indicator shows the persistence of gender inequalities in poverty in Portugal.

Stanford/Elsevier ranking highlights Professor António Afonso among the most cited in the world

The Teacher Antonio Afonso was recently included in the prestigious ranking of the world's most cited researchers, according to the August 2025 update of the study "Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators", drawn up by Stanford University in collaboration with the scientific publishing house Elsevier BV.

This recognition is the result of a comprehensive analysis based on standardized bibliometric indicators, which assess the scientific impact of millions of researchers around the world, taking into account the number of citations, the h-index, co-authorship and impact in different areas of knowledge.

International Open Access Week 2025

From October 20th to 26th, the International Open Access Week, a global initiative promoted by SPARC (Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), whose theme this year is: "Who Owns Our Knowledge?"

Open Access is one of the fundamental pillars of open science, guaranteeing that anyone - student, teacher, researcher or the general public - can access and share scientific knowledge freely, without barriers. For those developing a dissertation or thesis, this means more sources of information, fewer obstacles and greater academic impact.

In this context, and as part of the International Open Access Week 2025, the Francisco Pereira de Moura Library will be organizing a series of training sessions and events centered on the global theme "Who Owns Our Knowledge?".

Montepio Prize for Scientific Publication

As part of the renewal of the partnership agreement between ISEG Lisbon School of Economics & Management and Montepio Geral Associação Mutualista, the Montepio Prize for Scientific Publicationhas been launched, an initiative whose objective is to recognise and encourage excellence in academic research carried out by ISEG faculty.

This prize, which is monetary, is worth 5,000 euros and is designed to distinguish scientific publication(s) in the Financial Times list of the top 50 (fifty) academic journals ..

Exhibition Opening | The 500th Anniversary of the birth of Luís de Camões

In partnership with the Casa de Bragança Foundation, Universidade de Lisboa invites the entire academic community to the opening of the exhibition entitled 'The 500th Anniversary of the birth of Luís de Camões', which will take place on 30 October,at 17.30, at the Pavilhão de Portugal Exhibition Centrein Parque das Nações.

The exhibition unites some of the most notable works of Camões belonging to King D. Manuel II, as well as emblematic works from the Foundation's historical and cultural heritage.

The exhibition will be held at the Pavilhão de Portugal from October 30 to January 15, 2026 and the admission is free.

Time
Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 18.00, except on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January.

ULisboa - redeSAÚDE 2025Awards | Application period now open until 12 November

The objective of these awards is to recognise and distinguish the best Master's and PhD work carried out at ULisboa, whose research falls within the broad category of Health, in any of its various scientific, technological, social or human dimensions.

The ULisboa Prize - RedeSAÚDE 2025 takes place within the framework of the 9th Annual netSAÚDE Conference, to be held on 26 November, 2025.

All students and researchers who meet the conditions set out in the regulations can submit their application by filling in online form by the deadline of November 12, 2025
